Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday inaugurated six major schemes under the Road Construction Department in Patna Urban’s western region, with a combined investment of Rs 766.73 crore. These projects, announced during his recent ‘Pragati Yatra,’ aim to strengthen the traffic infrastructure and significantly reduce congestion problems in western Patna.
Key Road Widening and Flyover Projects to Improve Connectivity
The foundation stone ceremony began at AIIMS Golambar, where CM Nitish Kumar laid the cornerstone for the widening and strengthening of a 10.5 km stretch from AIIMS Golambar to Janipur-Panapur Nav, costing Rs 138.5 crore. This development will ease traffic for commuters from Phulwarisharif, AIIMS, Danapur, and Naubatpur.
In the same event, the Chief Minister also laid the foundation for a 1.015 km flyover at Naubatpur Lakh on the Naubatpur-Masaurhi road, valued at Rs 73.06 crore. This flyover is expected to alleviate traffic jams and improve the flow of vehicles between Patna and Masaurhi.
Expansion and Strengthening of Key Roads for Enhanced Traffic Flow
Further, the CM inaugurated the four-lane widening of the 6.9 km Khagaul Nehru Path from Ashok Rajpath to Rupaspur Canal Path at Rs 71.48 crore, promising improved access to Patliputra railway station via the Danapur-Bihta elevated road.
At another venue, Nitish Kumar laid the foundation for a road connecting Digha-AIIMS Patli Path to Nehru Path toward Danapur at a cost of Rs 143.86 crore. This project will provide a direct traffic corridor for residents between Digha and Khagaul, easing congestion on Nehru Path.
Major Drainage and Road Improvements in Western Patna
The Chief Minister also initiated the construction of underground drainage and road widening over 2.7 km from Rupaspur Canal to Saguna Mor on Nehru Path, with an investment of Rs 318.51 crore. This project aims to resolve persistent traffic and drainage challenges in the rapidly developing area.
Lastly, the widening of the 2.2 km stretch from Nehru Path to Gola Road was launched at Rs 21.35 crore, targeting the growing West Patna neighborhoods to improve commuting ease.
CM’s Directive for Timely and Quality Execution
Expressing satisfaction over the progress, CM Nitish Kumar emphasized the importance of immediate commencement and swift completion of these projects. He highlighted that these initiatives will significantly enhance traffic movement in West Patna and provide better connectivity to critical locations such as Patliputra Path, JP Setu, and AIIMS.
