Patna: The Bihar government has launched a new initiative to promote jaggery production in the state, offering financial assistance and incentives to sugarcane farmers and investors. Under the Bihar State Jaggery Industry Promotion Program, farmers and entrepreneurs can apply online to set up jaggery production units, with applications open until 25 November 2025.
Grants for Establishing Jaggery Units
The program provides financial support ranging from ₹6 lakh to ₹1 crore depending on the cane-crushing capacity of the unit. This initiative is part of the state government’s broader efforts to encourage sugarcane cultivation and strengthen the local sugar industry.
Farmers and investors can submit their applications for the seventh phase of the program through the official website: ccs.bihar.gov.in.

Grant Amount Based on Cane-Crushing Capacity
The government will provide up to 50% of the capital cost of setting up jaggery units. The grant distribution is as follows:
- Units with 5–20 tons/day capacity: up to ₹6 lakh
- Units with 21–40 tons/day capacity: up to ₹15 lakh
- Units with 41–60 tons/day capacity: up to ₹45 lakh
- Units with more than 60 tons/day capacity: up to ₹1 crore
Eligible farmers and investors can apply online and benefit from this financial support to establish or expand jaggery production units.
Economic Empowerment and Rural Development
According to the Sugarcane Industry Department, the seventh phase of applications will close on 25 November 2025. Applicants can also contact their district sugarcane officer or assistant director for more information.
The program is designed not only to increase farmers’ income but also to strengthen rural industries based on sugarcane. The initiative is expected to create employment opportunities, stimulate economic growth, and provide a significant boost to farmers’ earnings in the state.
