Patna: The Bihar government has announced a large-scale mining initiative to reduce reliance on neighboring states for stone supply. The plan aims to make raw materials for construction projects locally available, lowering costs, accelerating development, and generating employment opportunities for residents.
Surveys Reveal Sufficient Stone Reserves
According to sources from the Mining and Geology Department, surveys were recently conducted in Nawada, Sheikhpura, Aurangabad, Kaimur, Banka, and Gaya districts. The findings revealed ample stone reserves in the hills of these districts, identifying them as suitable for large-scale mining.

Special Area Identified in Banka
In Banka district, the Shambhgunj region has been specifically marked for mining, covering nearly 20 acres. According to survey reports, this area has the potential to yield millions of tons of stone. Pending environmental approvals and formalities, mining operations are expected to commence soon.

Locally available stone will reduce the costs of roads, bridges, buildings, and other infrastructure projects. Additionally, royalties and other mining-related fees will increase state revenue, while the initiative will create job opportunities for local communities.
