Patna: Bihar has extended a formal invitation to the Prime Minister of Mauritius, Navinchandra Ramgoolam, to attend the upcoming Bihar Day celebrations. The invitation was conveyed by Pranav Kumar, Secretary of the Department of Art and Culture, during his official visit to Mauritius.
The move is aimed at strengthening cultural ties between Bihar and Mauritius, with a special focus on promoting traditional art forms like Mithila (Madhubani) painting on a global platform.

Focus on Preservation and Digitization of Manuscripts
A key highlight of the discussions was the preservation and digitization of ancient manuscripts, which both sides recognized as invaluable cultural heritage.
India and Mauritius agreed to collaborate on:

Pranav Kumar is currently in Mauritius as a state guest for Bihar Day celebrations. During his visit, he also met with the Indian High Commissioner to Mauritius to explore ways to further strengthen cultural exchange programs.
He formally invited Mauritian representatives and delegations to visit Bihar during the Bihar Day celebrations, reinforcing bilateral engagement through cultural diplomacy.
Promoting Mithila Art on the Global Stage
The Bihar government is actively working to give Mithila painting greater international recognition. With Mauritius showing strong interest in this art form, future plans include:
