Patna: Bihar is set for a major infrastructure transformation as the ambitious Patna–Purnea six-lane expressway project has officially entered its initial phase. The 245-kilometre access-controlled expressway, estimated at ₹27,000 crore, aims to enhance connectivity, reduce travel time, and stimulate economic growth across the state.

The new expressway is expected to drastically cut travel time between Patna and Purnea, benefiting commuters, traders, and logistics operators. Key features include:
- Six-lane access-controlled road to ease congestion

Land Acquisition and Construction Timeline
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has begun the land acquisition process along the Patna–Purnea corridor. Key updates include:
- Statutory notifications and compensation disbursal are underway
- Once approximately 80% of land is acquired, tendering for construction will begin
- In Purnea district, nearly 59 km of the expressway will be developed
Officials emphasize that this phased approach will ensure smooth project execution and timely completion.
