Patna: A special team of the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) arrested a member of the paper leak gang led by mastermind Sanjeev Mukhia during a raid at his hideout on Gola Road, Patna, on Monday. The accused was involved in leaking the Bihar TRE-3 teacher recruitment exam paper and had also participated in the Haryana STET paper leak case.
Following his arrest, the accused was produced in court and sent to jail.
Details of the Arrest
The EOU received a tip-off that Bipul Kumar, also known as Bipul Sharma, a wanted member of Sanjeev Mukhia’s gang, was hiding at his residence on Gola Road. Acting on the information, the special team conducted a raid and apprehended him.
During interrogation, the accused admitted that he, along with other gang members, lured candidates appearing for competitive exams by promising guaranteed success in exchange for substantial money. He confirmed his involvement in the Haryana STET 2023 paper leak and the Bihar TRE-3 exam paper leak organized by the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC).

Scale of the Investigation
The Economic Offences Unit has so far arrested nearly 289 individuals connected to the paper leak syndicate. The team continues to conduct raids to apprehend remaining members involved in the organized operation.
The Bihar TRE-3 exam paper leak had earlier triggered a formal case at the Economic Offences Police Station, prompting a large-scale crackdown on the criminal network.
Modus Operandi of the Gang
According to the EOU, the gang systematically approached candidates appearing in teacher recruitment and other competitive exams. They offered to help candidates clear exams through illegal means for hefty sums of money. Sanjeev Mukhia, the mastermind, coordinated these operations across states, including Bihar and Haryana, making the gang a multi-state criminal enterprise.
