Patna: In a significant boost to industrial development in Bihar, Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Samrat Chaudhary announced that ₹27.93 crore has been approved for the construction of a modern green industrial zone in Jhanjharpur, Madhubani district. This development comes under Phase-2 of the Model Green Industrial Area Development Project.
The upcoming industrial hub will be developed on the grounds of the defunct paper mill, with a state-of-the-art multi-storey “Plug and Play” facility planned over 56,586 square feet in the first phase. The green industrial area is expected to generate significant employment and accelerate economic activity in Jhanjharpur and surrounding regions.
“The people of Jhanjharpur had long envisioned an industrial transformation. With this project, we are turning that vision into reality,” said Mr. Chaudhary.
He further noted that while the dream of a paper mill in the 1980s never came to fruition, the new initiative will ensure sustainable and modern industrial development in its place. The transformation of the old mill site into a green, energy-efficient industrial ecosystem marks a major step forward in the state government’s industrial policy.
The Industry Department has already given its nod to the project, which will be developed in two phases, emphasizing eco-friendly infrastructure and ease of doing business through ready-to-use industrial spaces.
