Patna: As many as 3,628 women candidates in the state have benefited from the Civil Services Incentive Scheme over the last five years, receiving financial assistance to support their preparation for civil services examinations conducted by UPSC and BPSC. Since its launch in 2021, the scheme has facilitated the transfer of ₹18.77 crore directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts.
Scheme Supports Women from Multiple Social Categories
The incentive scheme covers women candidates belonging to the General Category, Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), and Backward Classes who have successfully cleared the preliminary examinations of UPSC and BPSC. The objective of the initiative is to encourage greater participation of women in civil services by reducing financial constraints during the critical stages of examination preparation.

Major Disbursements Made in 2025
In the year 2025 alone, a total of 1,911 women candidates received benefits under the scheme, with an amount of approximately ₹9.67 crore transferred to their bank accounts.
For the 70th BPSC examination, 1,887 eligible candidates were provided a one-time incentive of ₹50,000 each, amounting to a total disbursement of ₹9.43 crore.
Additionally, 24 women candidates who cleared the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2025 received ₹1 lakh each, totaling ₹24 lakh in incentive assistance.
71st BPSC Candidates Await Disbursement
Applications of 859 candidates who cleared the 71st BPSC preliminary examination have been approved. The incentive amount will be transferred to their accounts after completion of the verification process, officials said.
Outstanding Achievements by Beneficiaries
The scheme has also supported candidates who went on to achieve remarkable success in final examinations. Garima Lohia secured second rank in UPSC 2022, while Priyangi Mehta topped the 68th BPSC examination, bringing laurels to the state.
Financial Support for Advanced Preparation
Under the scheme, women candidates who clear the preliminary stages of UPSC and BPSC are provided financial assistance ranging from ₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh. This support helps aspirants prepare for the main examination and subsequent stages, enabling them to compete on equal footing and strengthening women’s representation in the civil services.
