Patna: On the occasion of its 24th foundation day, the Bihar State Women’s Commission organized a special program titled “Mahila Jagruti Samvad” at the Adhiveshan Bhawan in Patna. The event was inaugurated by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who also unveiled the Commission’s commemorative magazine, “Samvad Se Sarokar Tak.”
A major highlight of the celebration was the launch of a new digital portal by the Commission, aimed at enabling women across the state to register complaints online — anytime, from anywhere. This move is seen as a significant step forward in the digital empowerment of women, particularly those from remote and rural areas.
A New Era of Digital Empowerment for Women
With the launch of the portal, women will no longer need to travel to Commission offices to file complaints. They can now submit grievances from the comfort of their homes using a mobile phone or computer. This not only saves time and resources but also makes access to justice more inclusive, especially for women in distant or underdeveloped areas.
In his address, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar praised the work of the Women’s Commission and reaffirmed the government’s ongoing commitment to women’s rights and safety. “The Commission has always responded to women’s concerns with sensitivity and urgency. This digital portal will ensure that no woman’s voice goes unheard,” he said.
Bihar’s Trailblazing Efforts in Women Empowerment
The CM also highlighted several key initiatives launched by the state government over the years to empower women. These include the reservation policy, the Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana, and the widely acclaimed Bicycle Scheme — all of which have played a pivotal role in boosting girls’ education, mobility, and confidence across Bihar.
“The progress in self-confidence and dignity among Bihar’s women is clearly visible. This new initiative adds another layer to our commitment,” he added.
Leaders Commend the Initiative
State Minister Vijay Chaudhary also spoke on the occasion, commending CM Nitish Kumar’s dedicated efforts toward women empowerment. “No other leader has done as much for women in Bihar as Chief Minister Nitish Kumar,” he remarked. He expressed confidence that the Women’s Commission would continue to play an active and impactful role in protecting women’s rights.
Why This Portal Matters
- Easy Access: Women from both urban and rural areas can now lodge complaints online.
- Time-Saving: No need to visit government offices in person.
- Greater Transparency: Digital tracking of complaints will improve accountability.
- Faster Justice: The Commission will be able to process complaints more efficiently.
Experts believe this move will also allow complainants to track the status of their grievances in real time, enhancing trust in the system and ensuring that women feel supported throughout the justice process.
Conclusion
The launch of the online complaint portal by the Bihar State Women’s Commission marks a milestone in digital governance and gender justice in the state. As Bihar continues to lead with innovative schemes for women’s welfare, this portal stands as a testament to the government’s resolve to ensure that every woman lives a life of dignity, safety, and equal opportunity.
