In a recent announcement, state-owned telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) confirmed that it has no immediate plans to raise tariffs, despite the trend of price hikes by private competitors like Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea earlier this year. According to BSNL Chairman and Managing Director Robert Ravi, the company’s primary focus is on ensuring customer satisfaction and building trust with its user base.
“We are not planning any tariff hikes in the near future,” Ravi assured during a press conference, emphasizing that BSNL’s strategy is centered on keeping customers happy rather than increasing prices. This decision stands out as telecom operators in India have been gradually raising their service prices due to rising operational costs and growing demand.
BSNL is also actively working on enhancing its network capabilities. Ravi shared that BSNL has already started offering 4G services in test mode across various regions. The telecom giant has successfully onboarded 1.8 crore customers to its 4G network so far, and a full-scale commercial launch is anticipated within this calendar year.
With a focus on improving customer experience and rolling out advanced services like 4G, BSNL aims to strengthen its position in the competitive Indian telecom market. The state-owned company has been playing catch-up in terms of technology adoption, but with this move, it hopes to offer more value to its customers without raising costs.
