Khajuraho, MP: The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet meeting in Khajuraho focused on the holistic development of Bundelkhand, approving a range of projects in industry, health, road connectivity, wildlife conservation, fire services, and irrigation. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav outlined a new roadmap aimed at boosting investment, employment, and infrastructure in the historically underdeveloped region.
Special Industrial Package for Maswasi Grant Industrial Area
The Cabinet approved a special industrial package for the Maswasi Grant Industrial Area in Sagar district, aimed at creating an investor-friendly environment. Key highlights –
- Land rate fixed at Re 1 per square meter
- Development charges payable over 20 years
- 100% stamp duty exemption
- 5-year exemption on electricity charges
The package is expected to attract investments of over Rs 24,240 crore, potentially creating employment for more than 29,000 people.
Upgradation of Health Institutions and Medical College Posts
The Cabinet sanctioned over 1,600 posts for the operation of three medical colleges. Additionally, 12 health institutions in 11 districts will be upgraded, with –
- 345 regular and 3 contractual posts sanctioned
- 136 posts filled through outsourcing
- Annual expenditure of over Rs 27 crore
The move is aimed at strengthening healthcare infrastructure and services in the region.
Sagar-Damoh Four-Lane Highway Approved
A 76.68 km four-lane highway connecting Sagar to Damoh was approved at a project cost of Rs 2,059 crore, to be implemented under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) –
- MPRDC to bear 40% of the cost upfront
- Remaining 60% paid as annuity over 15 years
- Features 13 underpasses, 3 major bridges, and 1 Railway Over Bridge (ROB)
The highway is expected to improve trade, connectivity, and industrial development in Bundelkhand.
Expansion of Cheetah Habitat in Nauradehi
In principle approval was granted to develop the Veerangana Durgavati Tiger Reserve in Nauradehi as the third cheetah habitat in Madhya Pradesh. Plans include bringing 8 cheetahs from Botswana in January 2026, enhancing wildlife conservation efforts in the state.
Fire Service Modernization and Irrigation Projects
Fire Service Modernization: Rs 397.54 crore sanctioned for new vehicles, equipment, and stations.
Jhapan Nala Irrigation Project (Tendukheda, Damoh): Rs 165 crore approved to benefit 3,600 hectares across 17 villages.
These initiatives aim to improve disaster response and agricultural productivity in Bundelkhand.
Other Key Decisions
- Sending 600 youths to Japan and Germany for employment opportunities.
- Development of road, industrial, health, and wildlife resources in the region.
