Back in the year 2019, the fans and well-wishers of the extremely outspoken Indian Revenue Service officer, Mr. Dev Prakash Meena sparked a Twitter trend demanding the verification of Mr. Dev’s Twitter account and declaring it as an official by marking it with a blue tick alongside it. #BlueTickForDev started trending on number 23 on Twitter with more than 11,000 tweets!
But Twitter has its own ways and to become a person with an official blue tick on one of the biggest social media platforms is not an easy task. A blue tick is not something that one might receive and that is exactly what happened with Mr. Dev.
This fiasco slightly pissed the IRS officer, which was made evident only recently when he posted a tweet about the little debacle while sarcastically taunting the social media platform and even mentioning its Twitter handle in the tweet.
Here is the tweet:
The tweet translates to “At this day in 2019, my fellow mates started the hashtag #BlueTickForDev to get my Twitter account verified. However, in the eyes of @TwitterIndia, my account does not deserve to get verification. I won’t say anymore, if you feel ashamed someday verify my account otherwise I would stop giving interviews one day.”
It would be quite interesting to see further developments into the debacle and if twitter will ever verify his account, or not.
