Several fake Facebook accounts have been created in the name of Ms. Shruti Sharma, an IAS officer currently serving as Sadar SDM and Joint Magistrate. The officer, who topped the UPSC 2021, clarified that she does not maintain a public Facebook profile. Sharing the warning via WhatsApp status, Ms. Sharma urged the public to report any fraudulent accounts impersonating her.

Followers Growing on Impersonation Pages
Some of the fake accounts have already amassed thousands of followers. The account named “Shruti Sharma IAS” reportedly has 19,000 followers, while “IAS Shruti Sharma Official” has 1,700 followers. Other accounts include “Shruti Sharma IAS Topper” with 1,000 followers, “Shruti Sharma IAS Fans” with 1,500 followers, and multiple fan groups on Facebook with hundreds of additional members.
Twitter (X) and Facebook Impersonation Continues
Fake profiles impersonating Ms. Sharma have also appeared on Twitter (now X) in 2022, posting controversial content under her name. These incidents highlight the ongoing risks of social media impersonation for public servants.
Official Advisory from IAS Officer Shruti Sharma
Ms. Sharma, a resident of Bijnor, stated that she was shocked to discover the fake accounts and reiterated that she has no official social media presence. She has requested citizens to report all fraudulent profiles and avoid engaging with them, emphasizing the importance of maintaining integrity online.
