1995 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from Assam-Meghalaya cadre, Anurag Tankha, bid adieu to the heavenly abode after a prolonged battle against cancer. He took his last breath on Monday, 19 July.
Tankha was on deputation to the Bureau of Police Research and Development as Inspector General (IG). He served in the National Investigation Agency (NIA) as IG till 2017 and was called back by the Assam government over the shortage of senior police officers in the cadre.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa also tweeted about the sad demise of the senior IPS officer.
