Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers have a key role in ensuring that the target of a developed India is achieved in Amrit Kaal (period till India’s 100 years of Independence in 2047). PM Modi was addressing the IAS officers of the 2020 batch at the concluding session of Assistant Secretary Course 2022, at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan in New Delhi.

Addressing a program of IAS officers, Modi said that officers have an important role in ensuring the achievement of the goal of a developed India in the ‘Amrit Kaal’. IAS officers can make a significant contribution to the development by serving the country with a holistic approach in their efforts by thinking out-of-the-box.

He talked about the significance of performing one’s duties, adding that the mentality of ‘Rajpath’ has now changed to the sentiment of ‘Kartavya Path’.

PM Modi said that earlier all the attention of the central government was focused only on Delhi but now equal attention is being given to all the centers of the country. The wheel of development is reaching every sector. The wheel of development is spinning from Delhi to every nook and corner of the village, parts of the Northeast. The ray of development reached those areas where till now the attention of any governments has not gone unnoticed.

The Prime Minister suggested that the officers develop an understanding of the local culture of the work area and strengthen their relationship with the local people at the grassroots level. He asked them to focus on one district one product and explore opportunities for export of their district’s products. He also asked the officials to prepare their action plan for the aspirational district programme. He said that there is a need to work for effective implementation of MGNREGA at the village level.
