In a big move in Uttar Pradesh’s bureaucracy, now Naib Tehsildars will also become IAS officers. They will be promoted to IAS rank. Naib Tehsildars is a UPPCS (State Civil Service) officer who is in charge of collecting tax from a tehsil in respect of land revenue.

Till now, only SDM (UPPCS officer) is promoted to IAS in UP. SDM is Deputy Collector rank officer.

But in an unprecedented move by the UP government, for the first time in the administrative service of the state, two Naib Tehsildars will be promoted to IAS rank.

Umakant Tripathi and Narendra Singh are among the PCS officers who are set to get promotion in the selection committee meeting to be held on August 21.

Representatives of Union Public Service Commission and Central Government will come to Lucknow for this meeting.

In India, a Tehsildar is a tax officer with revenue inspectors. He is also known as the Executive Magistrate of the concerned Tehsil. It is equivalent to an Additional Deputy Commissioner.

Under the selection list-2022 there are 22 vacancies to become IAS from state quota. In these, PCS officers of 2004 and 2006 batch will get promotion.

In the order of seniority, it is believed that disqualification of an officer due to involvement in recruitment scam is certain. Whereas due to various investigations against five, their envelope is bound to be closed.

In this way, at present a total of 17 officers will be able to get the IAS cadre. These include Umakant Tripathi and Narendra Singh, who were promoted to the PCS cadre in 2006.

Narendra Singh is presently serving as Additional Commissioner Transport and Chief General Manager, U.P. State Transport Corporation (UPSRTC), while Umakant Tripathi is posted as Additional District Magistrate, Finance and Revenue in Banda.

The rule is that the names of PCS officers whose age is not more than 56 years and have completed 8 years of service in this cadre can be sent for promotion to IAS. Both of these officers meet these standards. Hence their names have been included for the DPC.

Names Sent For DPC:

Bhishma Lal, Harish Chandra, Sriprakash Gupta, Prabhu Nath, Anju Katiyar, Preeti Jaiswal, Ritu Suhas, Santosh Kumar Vaish, Shatrohan Vaish, Dharmendra Singh, Anand Kumar Shukla, Arvind Kumar Mishra, Vijay Kumar, Avneesh Saxena, Keshav Kumar, Rajesh Kumar , Vinod Kumar, Ravindra Kumar, Himanshu Gautam, Mukesh Chandra, Amarpal Singh, Umakant Tripathi, Narendra Singh.
