The Uttar Pradesh Police and associated services are preparing for a significant leadership transition as two senior IPS officers, Mr. Daljit Singh Chaudhary and Ms. Tilottama Verma, both 1990-batch, are scheduled to retire on November 30. Their retirement marks the end of decades of distinguished service in critical policing roles, leaving two key Director General (DG) posts vacant.
Promotions Poised to Fill the Vacancies
In the wake of these retirements, sources indicate that Mr. Sujit Pandey, currently serving as ADG of the Lucknow Zone, and Mr. Prakash D., ADG of the Government Railway Police (GRP), are expected to be promoted to the DG positions. These appointments are anticipated to strengthen leadership across crucial administrative and operational police functions, ensuring continuity in law enforcement and public safety oversight.
Post-Retirement Prospects for Senior Officers
Mr. Daljit Singh Chaudhary, the incumbent Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF), may be entrusted with a strategic role post-retirement, reflecting his extensive experience in security management at both state and national levels. Ms. Tilottama Verma has also served in key administrative and operational positions, contributing significantly to public safety and police modernization efforts.
Other Retirements in the Police Ranks
November 30 also marks the retirement of three additional IPS officers: Mr. Arun Kumar Srivastava, DIG in the PAC; Mr. Prakash Swaroop Pandey, SP in the State Tax Department; and Mr. Shivaji, SP in the Technical Services Branch. These transitions highlight a broader generational shift within the UP Police, creating opportunities for younger officers to advance into leadership roles.
PPS Officers Also Bid Farewell
In addition to the IPS retirements, four PPS officers will retire at the end of November: Mr. Atul Pradhan, DSP in Etawah; Mr. Amardeep Lal, DSP in Agra Police Commissionerate; Mr. Ram Sen Singh, posted in Anti-Corruption; and Mr. Chhote Singh, posted at the Police Headquarters. Their retirements will pave the way for promotions within the PPS ranks, ensuring administrative continuity and organizational efficiency.
Ensuring Smooth Transition and Continued Governance
The upcoming retirements and promotions underscore the Uttar Pradesh Police’s commitment to structured succession planning, which maintains operational efficiency while fostering new leadership. These changes are expected to reinforce public trust, improve administrative responsiveness, and strengthen law and order management across the state.
