New Delhi: The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has appointed six senior IRS officers as Chief Commissioners of Income Tax (CCIT) for the panel year 2025, with effect from June 1, 2025. The appointments are part of routine cadre restructuring and are aimed at strengthening top-level leadership within the Income Tax Department.
Officers Posted as CCIT (OSD) Pending Final Orders
Until their formal postings are notified, the newly promoted officers will serve as CCIT (Officer on Special Duty – OSD) in their respective regions. This is a standard administrative practice used by the CBDT during transitional phases following elevation to senior ranks.
List of Appointed Chief Commissioners
The officers appointed as CCIT are–
- IRS officer Rajarshi Dwivedy
- IRS-IT officer Vasundhara Upmanyu
- IRS officer Manisha Chandra
- IRS officer Dr. Sibichen K. Mathew
- IRS officer Anand Kumar Kedia
- IRS officer Sant Saran Mantri
All six officers are seasoned IRS professionals and have held various senior positions in the Income Tax Department, contributing to tax policy, enforcement, and taxpayer services across the country.
Strengthening Leadership in the Income Tax Department
The elevation of these officers is seen as part of CBDT’s ongoing strategy to strengthen leadership and policy execution at the top administrative level, especially as the department continues to focus on widening the tax base, increasing compliance, and enhancing digital governance.
Further posting orders for the new CCITs are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
