The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against Udit Prakash Rai, an IAS officer and former Delhi government education director, over alleged irregularities and corruption in the appointment of faculty at government-aided Delhi Tamil Education Association (DTEA) Schools.
Officials revealed that Rai, along with others, facilitated the appointment of his wife, Shilpi Rai, and four others—Yogita, Priyanka Tiwari, Pooja Verma, and Abhishek Gosain—as TGT/PGT teachers using forged experience certificates during 2021-22.
The FIR names Honorary DTEA Secretary R Raju, former Deputy Education Officer Sharad Kumar Verma, Moti Bagh School Principal Govindavel Harikrishna, and CPM Public School Manager Shrikant Singh Yadav as co-accused in the conspiracy.
The CBI’s investigation began after a complaint from the Special Secretary Vigilance of the Delhi government, leading to a preliminary enquiry (PE) that uncovered evidence of fake appointments. It further alleged that Rai influenced officials in Zone-19 of the Directorate of Education to release salary grants for his wife without proper scrutiny.
