Jharkhand: Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) has flagged off a Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative to strengthen preventive and primary healthcare services in remote rural areas of Jharkhand. The launch event was led by Mr. Harsh Nath Mishra, Director HR, CCL, in the presence of senior officials including GMs, HODs, and employees.
Advanced Diagnostic Services for Early Detection
The newly launched MMU is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic facilities designed to provide comprehensive healthcare access to underserved populations. Key services include:
- Breast cancer screening
- Tuberculosis (TB) screening through X-ray and RT-PCR tests
- Essential laboratory tests for common health conditions
The unit will operate six days a week for 24 months, covering 20 villages across Gomia (Bokaro) and Mandu (Ramgarh) blocks. It is expected to benefit over 37,000 people, ensuring early disease detection, timely medical referrals, and raising awareness on community health issues.

Strengthening Rural Healthcare Access
This initiative underlines CCL’s commitment to equitable healthcare access and improving the well-being of communities in mining peripheral regions. By bringing healthcare facilities directly to remote villages, the MMU addresses barriers such as travel distance, limited local medical infrastructure, and delayed diagnosis.
The program aligns with broader governmental efforts to translate policy objectives into tangible outcomes, inspired by the Prime Minister’s vision of inclusive governance and development that reaches the last mile.
