Hazaribagh: Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a Sickle Cell Anemia screening initiative targeting 30,000 individuals from villages near its upcoming Chandragupta project in Keredari block, Hazaribagh District.
Under this three-year initiative, around 4,500 identified SCD (Sickle Cell Disease) patients will receive nutrition, IEC (Information, Education, Communication) materials, and ongoing monitoring.
Sickle Cell Anemia is a genetic disorder that leads to abnormal red blood cells, causing chronic pain and organ damage due to blocked blood flow. The program aims to improve awareness and care for affected individuals in the region.
CCL, a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, continues its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by addressing critical health issues in its operational areas. CCL was established in 1956 as National Coal Development Corporation Limited and is a Category-I Mini Ratna company since October 2007.
