Mumbai: Central Bank of India reported a 20.55% year-on-year increase in its global business to ₹8,89,621 crore as of September 30, 2026, driven by growth in deposits and gross advances during the second quarter of FY2026-27.
In a regulatory filing submitted to the BSE on October 5, 2026, the public sector lender disclosed its key provisional business figures for the quarter ended September 30, 2026. The bank’s total global business stood at ₹7,37,938 crore on September 30, 2025, and ₹8,12,439 crore as of March 31, 2026.
Gross advances recorded stronger growth than deposits, increasing 29.83% year-on-year to ₹3,81,035 crore. Meanwhile, total deposits rose 14.43% to ₹5,08,586 crore.
Despite an increase in the amount of current account and savings account (CASA) deposits, the CASA ratio declined to 44.70% from 46.83% a year earlier, reflecting slower growth in these deposits compared with the bank’s overall deposit base.
Central Bank of India Q2 Business Grows 20.55%
Central Bank of India’s global business continued to expand during the second quarter of FY2026-27, crossing ₹8.89 lakh crore as of September 30, 2026.
The latest provisional figures show growth compared with both the corresponding period of the previous financial year and the end of March 2026.
Key business highlights:
- Total global business: ₹8,89,621 crore
- Year-on-year growth: 20.55%
- Business as of September 30, 2025: ₹7,37,938 crore
- Business as of March 31, 2026: ₹8,12,439 crore

The increase reflects expansion in the bank’s two major business segments: deposits and advances. However, the provisional business disclosure does not include quarterly profit, income or asset quality figures.

Gross Advances Jump 29.83% to ₹3.81 Lakh Crore
The bank’s global gross advances registered stronger growth than deposits during the reporting period.
Gross advances increased 29.83% year-on-year to ₹3,81,035 crore as of September 30, 2026, compared with ₹2,93,488 crore a year earlier. The figure was also higher than the ₹3,44,516 crore recorded on March 31, 2026.
Gross advances comparison:
- September 30, 2025: ₹2,93,488 crore
- March 31, 2026: ₹3,44,516 crore
- September 30, 2026: ₹3,81,035 crore
- Year-on-year growth: 29.83%
The increase indicates a significant expansion in the bank’s lending business during the year. Gross advances grew at nearly twice the rate of total deposits, making credit growth a key feature of the bank’s Q2 business performance.
Total Deposits Rise 14.43% to ₹5.08 Lakh Crore
Central Bank of India’s total deposits increased 14.43% year-on-year to ₹5,08,586 crore as of September 30, 2026.
The bank’s deposits stood at ₹4,44,450 crore on September 30, 2025, and ₹4,67,923 crore on March 31, 2026.
Deposit growth highlights:
- September 30, 2025: ₹4,44,450 crore
- March 31, 2026: ₹4,67,923 crore
- September 30, 2026: ₹5,08,586 crore
- Year-on-year growth: 14.43%
The increase reflects continued deposit mobilisation during the reporting period. However, deposit growth remained below the growth rate recorded in gross advances.
This difference between lending and deposit growth is an important aspect of the bank’s business performance, as deposits are a key source of funding for lending operations.
CASA Ratio Falls 213 Basis Points to 44.70%
Central Bank of India’s CASA deposits increased in absolute terms, but their share in total deposits declined during the year.
CASA deposits, comprising current and savings account balances, grew 9.21% year-on-year to ₹2,26,747 crore as of September 30, 2026. The corresponding figure was ₹2,07,616 crore in September 2025 and ₹2,20,781 crore in March 2026.
However, the CASA ratio declined to 44.70% from 46.83% a year earlier, representing a decrease of 213 basis points. It was also lower than the 47.30% recorded on March 31, 2026.
CASA performance at a glance:
- CASA deposits in September 2025: ₹2,07,616 crore
- CASA deposits in March 2026: ₹2,20,781 crore
- CASA deposits in September 2026: ₹2,26,747 crore
- Year-on-year CASA deposit growth: 9.21%
- CASA ratio in September 2025: 46.83%
- CASA ratio in September 2026: 44.70%
- Year-on-year decline in CASA ratio: 213 basis points
The CASA ratio measures the proportion of a bank’s total deposits held in current and savings accounts. These deposits are generally considered a relatively low-cost source of funds.
The decline indicates that CASA deposits grew more slowly than the bank’s overall deposits. While the figures show a difference between credit and deposit growth, they do not establish whether the bank increased its reliance on higher-cost term deposits or wholesale funding.
