In a significant push to accelerate infrastructure-led growth in Uttar Pradesh, the Central Government has greenlit the development of a new expressway connecting Noida to Aligarh, with land acquisition of over 13,300 acres across 36 villages in Greater Noida and 5 villages in Aligarh. Spearheaded by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), the ambitious project is poised to reshape the economic landscape of the region and directly benefit thousands of farmers through transparent and corruption-free compensation.
Land acquisition will be done directly from farmers without any intermediaries, with payments made directly into their bank accounts to ensure transparency and rebuild trust. The project will also fuel the development of an industrial and logistics corridor running parallel to the existing Yamuna Expressway, promising a major boost to local employment and business opportunities.
With a proposed budget of Rs. 5,900 crore — including Rs. 5,000 crore earmarked for land and Rs. 900 crore for infrastructure — the project has received special financial provisioning to ensure rapid implementation. The expressway, discussed in detail at the YEIDA meeting on March 28, is part of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari’s vision of “Infrastructure for Growth.”
Beyond improving road connectivity, the expressway project is envisioned as a means of fostering urban-rural integration, with anticipated improvements in healthcare, education, and public services in the villages situated along its route.
