Raipur: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the Chhattisgarh government has taken a significant stride in strengthening the state’s healthcare infrastructure and medical education. During the 51st Board of Directors meeting of Chhattisgarh Medical Services Corporation Limited (CGMSC) held at the new Raipur headquarters, the government approved tender rates for four new government medical colleges along with six major construction projects. The combined cost of these projects exceeds Rs 1,390 crore.
Approved Construction Costs for Medical Colleges
The board approved the following tender rates for the construction of buildings for the four new medical colleges:
- Manendragarh Medical College: Rs 323.03 crore
- Kabirdham Medical College: Rs 318.27 crore
- Janjgir-Champa Medical College: Rs 318.27 crore
- Gidam Medical College: Rs 326.53 crore
In addition, Rs 28.48 crore was sanctioned for a 220-bed hospital building in Manendragarh, and Rs 79.52 crore was approved for the government Ayurveda college and hospital building in Bilaspur.
Focus on Timely and Quality Construction
Following the approval of tender rates, the construction work on these six projects will commence shortly. The meeting emphasized completing all projects within the stipulated timeline and maintaining high-quality standards. Special attention was given to transparency and quality assurance throughout the execution process.
Statewide Access to Advanced Healthcare
Once completed, these projects will provide state-of-the-art medical facilities to the people of Chhattisgarh. The development aims to reduce dependence on metropolitan cities for treatment and strengthen healthcare services at the local level.
Expansion of Medical Education and Employment Opportunities
The establishment of new medical colleges will expand the scope of medical education in the state. It will increase the availability of doctors and paramedical staff, create employment opportunities for local youth, and extend healthcare access to rural and remote areas.
