Raipur: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the Chhattisgarh government has successfully launched the CM Rural Bus Service to provide regular bus connectivity to remote, hilly, and Naxal-affected villages. The initiative aims to link villages with main roads and district headquarters, facilitating easier travel for residents.

Phase-Wise Expansion of Rural Bus Routes

The service was inaugurated on October 4, 2025, from Jagdalpur.

  • Phase 1: 34 buses on 34 routes, connecting around 250 villages
  • Phase 2: 24 new buses on 23 additional routes, benefiting nearly 180 more villages

As of January 2026, buses are operating on 57 routes, serving approximately 330 villages. The government plans to expand the fleet to 200 buses by FY 2026-27 to reach even more remote communities.

Enhancing Access to Education, Healthcare, and Employment

The rural bus service has significantly improved mobility for residents in Kondagaon, Jashpur, and other remote areas.

  • Students now have reliable transport to schools and colleges
  • Patients can reach hospitals more easily
  • Villagers can access markets and district headquarters without difficulty

The service is designed not just as a transport solution but as a vehicle for holistic rural development, supporting local economies and generating new employment opportunities.

CM Emphasizes Inclusive Development

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai stated that the government is committed to ensuring development reaches every citizen, and the CM Rural Bus Service is a key step toward this goal.

By linking far-flung areas to economic, educational, and healthcare hubs, the initiative strengthens both connectivity and livelihoods, creating a more inclusive growth model for rural Chhattisgarh.
