In a significant development, four senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers in Chhattisgarh have been assigned new responsibilities, nearly 10 months after they were left without charge following the formation of the new BJP government in December 2023.
Deepanshu Kabra, a 1997-batch IPS officer and Additional Director General of Police, has been appointed to oversee the Scheduled Caste and Tribe Cell and the Training division. Anand Chabra, a 2001-batch IPS officer, has been made the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for the Scheduled Caste and Tribe Cell and Training.
Dhruv Gupta, a 2005-batch IPS officer, has been assigned the post of Inspector General of Police (CCTNS, SCRB), overseeing the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) and the State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB).
Meanwhile, Arvind Kujur, a 2010-batch IPS officer, has been appointed as the Deputy Inspector General of Police for the Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF).
These four officers had been stationed at the police headquarters, awaiting their respective postings, after the BJP government took charge in the state. Their assignments mark a long-awaited move in reshuffling the police leadership in the state.
