Raipur: In a significant move to boost the morale of civil services aspirants, the Chhattisgarh government has announced a ₹1 lakh incentive for students who successfully clear the UPSC Mains examination. The initiative has been launched under the directions of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai and aims to promote competitive exam participation among the state’s youth.

The order was issued by the Urban Administration Department, integrating the incentive under the existing ‘Mahapor Samman Rashi’ system, which is typically reserved for municipal corporation honors. This marks a proactive shift in the government’s policy to support academic excellence and national-level competition.

UPSC Success Sparks Policy Shift

The decision comes in the wake of Chhattisgarh’s commendable performance in the UPSC 2024 results. Several students from the state secured high ranks, including:

  • Purva Agarwal (Bilaspur) – Rank 65
  • Arpan Chopra (Mungeli) – Rank 313
  • Mansi Jain (Jagdalpur, Bastar) – Rank 444
  • Keshav Garg (Ambikapur) – Rank 496
  • Shachi Jaiswal (Ambikapur) – Rank 654

These achievements have inspired the state leadership to introduce a tangible reward system that encourages more youth to pursue a career in the Indian civil services.

CM’s Vision: Stronger Representation from Chhattisgarh

Speaking on the initiative, Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai stated, “Our government is committed to promoting education, competitive examination readiness, and employment opportunities. We hope that in the next UPSC result, students from Chhattisgarh will have an even stronger presence.”

He emphasized that the incentive will ignite a sense of ambition among students, urging them to take the UPSC journey seriously.

Impact and Aspirations

The ₹1 lakh reward is expected to serve not only as financial assistance but also as a motivational boost for candidates who clear one of India’s most challenging examinations. The state hopes the move will lead to increased participation and better results in coming years, thereby enhancing Chhattisgarh’s representation in the nation’s administrative services.
