Highlighting Digital Opportunities and Risks
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai stressed that while technology has made life simpler and faster, the risks of cyber fraud have multiplied. He said that with vigilance and awareness, citizens can avoid falling prey to scams. “A moment of carelessness can cost hard-earned savings. Our effort is to make more and more people alert and safe,” he added.
The Chief Minister further informed that 29 cyber fraud hotspots have been identified across Chhattisgarh. The awareness van will intensify its outreach in these vulnerable areas through audio-visual messages, street plays, and puppet shows to educate citizens about evolving methods of online fraud.
Campaign Details and Public Advisory
The campaign, organised by the State Bank of India, will run from August 15 to November 30, 2025. Covering all 33 districts of the state, the awareness van will spread information about common scams and preventive measures.
Mr. Sai appealed to citizens not to share confidential banking details, passwords, or OTPs with anyone, and to avoid clicking suspicious links. He urged people to remain vigilant as cyber criminals constantly devise new tricks.
SBI officials reminded that citizens can lodge complaints of online financial fraud through the national helpline number 1930.
SBI’s Role in Strengthening Digital Safety
Senior SBI officials, including Deputy General Manager Mr. Rakesh Sinha and Assistant General Manager Mr. Deepak Kumar Sinha, attended the launch event. They said the initiative reflects the bank’s responsibility as “the banker to every Indian” and underlines its commitment to protecting customers in the digital age.
By partnering with the Chhattisgarh government, SBI aims to build a culture of cyber awareness and resilience, ensuring that technology remains a tool for empowerment rather than exploitation.
