Indian Masterminds Stories

Raipur: Chhattisgarh has achieved a remarkable milestone in implementing the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) system under India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The state has become a frontrunner among large states in generating permanent digital academic IDs for students, demonstrating rapid and effective execution of this national initiative.

Massive Coverage Across Schools

As of January 7, 2026, Chhattisgarh has successfully generated APAAR IDs for 50,60,941 students out of a total of 57,10,207 students enrolled across 57,045 schools in the state. This accounts for 88.63% of all students, the highest percentage achievement among India’s large states. This accomplishment marks a significant step in strengthening the state’s digital educational infrastructure.

District-Level Performance Highlights

At the district level, Bemetara recorded the highest coverage with 96.40% of students assigned APAAR IDs, closely followed by Rajnandgaon at 96.38%. Other districts including Raigarh, Korea, Raipur, Korba, Dhamtari, Durg, and Balodabazar have completed the generation of APAAR IDs for over 93% of their students. Excluding Narayanpur, Bijapur, Sukma, Balrampur, and Dantewada, all other districts have surpassed 80% coverage.

The remaining students’ APAAR IDs are being generated continuously, with teachers and officials instructed to prioritize this task, ensuring that no student is left out of this important national initiative.

National Target and Timeline

The Government of India has directed that APAAR IDs must be generated for all students by January 31, 2026. Chhattisgarh’s timely and coordinated efforts indicate that the state is on track to meet this national deadline, ensuring full student inclusion.

Significance of APAAR IDs

The APAAR system provides each student with a permanent digital academic identity, securely storing academic achievements, certificates, and credits in a digital format. This system enhances educational continuity, transparency, and facilitates national-level academic mobility, empowering students with a comprehensive digital record of their learning journey.
