Chhattisgarh is set to welcome a new addition to its cadre of IAS officers. Mukund Thakur, a 2020-batch IAS officer, will soon be posted in the state. His transfer follows his marriage to Namrata Choubey, a 2023-batch IAS officer of the Chhattisgarh cadre, under the post-marriage common cadre reallocation rule.

Mukund Thakur had applied for a posting in Chhattisgarh, and his request was recently approved. He is expected to join the state administration soon. Currently, Namrata Choubey is serving as the SDM in Saraipali, Mahasamund district.

From Bihar to IAS: Mukund Thakur’s Journey
Born in Madhubani, Bihar, Mukund Thakur initially aspired to join the armed forces but was deemed medically unfit. Undeterred, he focused on UPSC preparations and cleared the exam in his first attempt, securing an All India Rank of 54 in the 2019 UPSC Civil Services Examination. He is presently serving as the Civil Supplies Commissioner in Kerala.

Namrata Choubey: An Inspiring IAS Journey
Namrata Choubey hails from Garhwa, Jharkhand. She secured the 73rd rank in UPSC and became an IAS officer on her second attempt. An alumnus of Shanti Nivas High School in Garhwa and IIT Kanpur, she pursued engineering before achieving success in the civil services examination.

With Mukund Thakur’s arrival, the number of 2020-batch IAS officers in Chhattisgarh will increase to eight. This couple is expected to play a significant role in strengthening the state’s administrative framework and contributing to Chhattisgarh’s development.
