Gandhinagar: Reaffirming the government’s commitment to sustainable and inclusive urban growth, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has approved ₹4,179 crore worth of developmental projects under the Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana. These projects form a key part of the state’s celebration of Urban Development Year–2025, marking two decades since its initiation by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi during his tenure as Gujarat’s Chief Minister in 2005.
Investment Across 7 Municipal Corporations and 12 Municipalities
The massive funding allocation is set to benefit 7 municipal corporations, including the newly constituted Morbi, Porbandar, and Nadiad, along with 12 municipalities such as Visnagar, Borsad, Viramgam, Patan, Amod, Una, Halvad, Khambhaliya, Savarkundla, Dhanera, Veraval, and Patan.
The projects will drive improvements in infrastructure, urban roads, water supply, stormwater management, and the development of outgrowth areas, all aimed at improving quality of life and urban services.
Major Allocations and Project Categories
1.Infrastructure Development – ₹3,768 Crore
The bulk of the funding, ₹3,768 crore, has been earmarked for infrastructure development, including:
- ₹455 crore for 349 urban mobility and physical infrastructure works in Vadodara
- ₹367 crore for 302 works in Rajkot
- ₹2,940 crore for 252 works in Ahmedabad
- ₹6.20 crore for 11 projects in Porbandar, a newly formed municipal corporation
2. Iconic Roads, Urban Roads & Gaurav Paths – ₹219 Crore
Under the “Iconic Road” initiative:
- ₹136 crore for Rajkot
- ₹15 crore for Morbi
- ₹13 crore for Nadiad
- ₹17.76 crore for Una
- ₹19.28 crore for Halvad
- ₹5 crore for Khambhaliya
These roads aim to enhance urban aesthetics, improve traffic flow, and foster civic pride.
3. Water Supply and Storm Water Drainage – ₹93 Crore
To strengthen water infrastructure and manage monsoon runoff:
- ₹61.64 crore allocated to Morbi
- ₹19.28 crore to Savarkundla
- ₹11.31 crore to Dhanera
4. Outgrowth Area Development – ₹82 Crore
Recognising the expansion of urban boundaries:
- ₹80 crore allocated for outgrowth areas in Rajkot
- ₹2.72 crore for Patan
5. Special Initiatives and Community Projects
Additional allocations include:
- ₹14 crore for unique local projects in Veraval-Patan and Amod
- ₹2.72 crore under the Khaangi Society Janbhagidari Yojana for Visnagar, Borsad, and Viramgam
CM Emphasises Citizen-Centric Urban Growth
Speaking on the initiative, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupendra Patel emphasised the importance of building cities that are inclusive, smart, and sustainable, reiterating the vision of “Earning Well – Living Well.”
He stated that these projects are not just investments in infrastructure but in quality of life, public welfare, and citizen empowerment.

The Urban Development Year–2025 marks 20 years since the program’s inception, celebrating Gujarat’s consistent strides in structured urbanisation. With visionary planning and citizen participation, the state is shaping cities that meet both aspirational and practical needs of its residents.
