New Delhi: Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has successfully commenced the sale of natural gas from the Discovered Small Field (DSF-II) Block RJ/ONDSF/Chinnewala/2018, marking a major milestone in the monetisation of Chinnewala Tibba gas in the Rajasthan Kutch Onland Exploratory Asset (RKOEA).

Strengthening India’s Energy Security

This achievement underscores ONGC’s unwavering commitment to boosting domestic energy production and fortifying India’s energy security. The initiative aligns with the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoP&NG)’s vision to reduce dependency on imports and promote self-sufficiency in the energy sector.

Strategic Location and Resource Potential

The Chinnewala Tibba block, situated in Western Rajasthan near the Indo-Pak international border, spans an area of 73 square kilometers and contains promising natural gas reserves. ONGC has initiated gas sales at a rate of 1.0 lakh standard cubic meters per day (LSCMD), addressing the increasing energy demands of the region.

Seamless Gas Evacuation and Collaboration

Gas evacuation to Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RRVUNL) at Ramgarh commenced on August 25, 2025, facilitated by ONGC’s Gamnewala Gas Collection Station (GCS). This smooth integration of gas into the regional power grid was made possible through close coordination between ONGC, the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH), GAIL, Oil India Limited (OIL), and RRVUNL.

Inauguration and Leadership

The inauguration ceremony was attended by prominent ONGC leaders, including Director (Strategy & Corporate Affairs) Arunangshu Sarkar and Director (Exploration) Om Prakash Sinha, among other senior officials.

During the event, the dignitaries emphasized that the successful production and monetisation of gas from Chinnewala Tibba highlights ONGC’s dedication to efficient resource utilisation under the Discovered Small Field framework. It also reinforces ONGC’s role as a key partner of the Government of India in achieving national energy goals.
