New Delhi: In a significant step to bridge India’s skill gap and boost youth employability, Mr Srinivas Katikithala (IAS: 1989), Secretary, Housing & Urban Affairs, Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA), inaugurated the CII-NBCC Training Centre at Ghitorni, Delhi.
The ceremony was attended by senior officials including Mr Ravi Kumar Arora, a 2006-batch IAS officer of the Gujarat cadre and Joint Secretary, MoHUA; Mr K. P. Mahadevaswamy, CMD of NBCC; Dr. Suman Kumar, Director (Commercial), NBCC; and other senior NBCC officers.
Strategic Collaboration Between NBCC and CII
The initiative represents a partnership between NBCC (India) Limited and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to establish a Multi-Skill Training Institute (MSTI) alongside a Model Career Centre (MCC). The collaboration aims to provide industry-relevant skills, facilitate employment opportunities, and drive economic growth in Delhi and surrounding regions.
Industry-Aligned Training Programs
The MSTI will offer industry-aligned bridge courses designed to reskill and upskill youth for high-demand sectors such as retail, manufacturing, BPO, and logistics. The programs focus not just on certification but on equipping participants with practical skills that directly match industry requirements.
The integrated Model Career Centre will function as a hub for career counselling, job fairs, and industry linkages, ensuring that trainees have clear pathways to employment immediately after completing the programs.
Empowering Youth and Fostering Economic Growth
Speaking at the inauguration, officials highlighted that the initiative is designed to prepare a job-ready talent pool for the modern workforce. By combining NBCC’s infrastructure with CII’s industry insights, the program will empower India’s youth, fostering economic self-reliance and equipping participants with skills aligned to evolving market demands.
This center marks a forward-looking model of vocational training, bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world industry needs, and positioning Delhi-NCR as a hub for skilled, employable talent.
