Gandhinagar: In a major step towards reinforcing grassroots governance, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has given administrative approval for the construction of new Taluka Panchayat buildings in 11 talukas across Gujarat, with modern facilities including solar rooftop systems and rainwater harvesting structures.
This move is part of a broader vision to strengthen local self-governing bodies and improve the quality of public service infrastructure throughout the state.
11 New Taluka Panchayat Offices Approved
The newly sanctioned Panchayat offices will be constructed in the following talukas:
- Ahwa (Dang)
- Daskroi, Detroj (Ahmedabad)
- Matar (Kheda)
- Kawant (Chhota Udepur)
- Santalpur (Patan)
- Vav (Banaskantha)
- Palitana, Shihor (Bhavnagar)
- Lunawada (Mahisagar)
- Gondal (Rajkot)
An allocation of ₹12.45 crore has been approved for these 11 projects.

Ongoing Construction in 6 More Talukas
In addition to the new approvals, construction is already underway in six talukas:
- Lathi, Kuka Vav, Veraval, Deesa, Mahuva, and Gandhinagar
- A total of ₹20.55 crore has been allocated for these ongoing projects.
- State Budget Sets Aside ₹65 Crore for Panchayat Infrastructure
As part of the 2025–26 budget, the state government has earmarked ₹65 crore to develop modern, well-equipped, and spacious Taluka Panchayat buildings. These upgraded offices aim to offer greater convenience and improved public service delivery for citizens.
Push for Green and Sustainable Infrastructure
Chief Minister Patel’s administration has made sustainability a key focus, encouraging the adoption of solar energy and rainwater harvesting systems across government infrastructure.
Current Status:
- 104 Taluka Panchayat buildings are already equipped with solar rooftops.
- Work is in progress to install solar systems in 27 more.
- 31 Taluka Panchayats already have rainwater harvesting structures in place.
All newly constructed buildings will mandatorily include rainwater harvesting facilities, in line with the “Catch the Rain” initiative launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Guidelines for Safety and Sustainability
The Department of Panchayat, Rural Housing, and Rural Development has issued a formal resolution to implement these projects. The design and execution of all construction will follow safety norms laid down by the Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority (GSDMA).

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel emphasized the importance of empowering District and Taluka Panchayats with robust infrastructure to ensure effective governance and service delivery.
“By upgrading Taluka Panchayat buildings with modern amenities, solar power, and rainwater systems, we are building a more sustainable and citizen-friendly administration,” the CM stated.
