In his address, Dr. Yadav emphasized the nationalistic spirit that Raja Shankar Shah and Kunwar Raghunath Shah embodied. The fight they waged against British colonialism was deeply rooted in indigenous values. They resisted foreign domination, fiercely believing that India should have its own laws, its own destiny. Their sacrifices have immortalized them as national heroes.
Immortal Sacrifice for Independence
Dr. Yadav reflected on the unyielding resolve of Raja Shankar Shah and Kunwar Raghunath Shah, who, like Rani Durgavati before them, stood up to British rule. Through their poetry and revolutionary songs, they challenged the British Empire and fought to protect their land, forests, and traditions. In an act of extreme brutality, the British captured both martyrs, tied them to cannons, and blew them apart. They refused to submit to British demands for conversion or submission to colonial rule, instead pledging to continue their fight if they survived.
“Raja Shankar Shah and Kunwar Raghunath Shah’s martyrdom is an eternal reminder that individuals who sacrifice their lives for their nation’s independence live on forever,” Dr. Yadav remarked. The legacy of these martyrs continues to inspire the youth to serve and protect the nation, ensuring their bravery remains enshrined in history.
A Commitment to Swadeshi and Self-Reliance
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also used the occasion to highlight the ongoing efforts to promote self-reliance in Madhya Pradesh through the Swadeshi movement. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, the state has embraced a national campaign to adopt indigenous products and strengthen self-reliance.
Dr. Yadav expressed his pride in Madhya Pradesh’s self-help groups, which are leading the way in building a sustainable, self-sufficient economy. He also highlighted the success of local farming initiatives, such as the self-reliant dairy economy exemplified by local cows. “We are adopting Swadeshi, and it is the key to India’s development,” Dr. Yadav said, encouraging citizens to incorporate indigenous products into their daily lives.
Jabalpur: A Land of Martyrdom and Valor
Jabalpur, the land of Raja Shankar Shah and Kunwar Raghunath Shah, has been historically enriched by the sacrifices of its great freedom fighters. Dr. Yadav described the region as “irrigated with the blood of our tribal heroes,” noting that the area’s history is steeped in valor and resistance against British rule. The legacy of these martyrs continues to instill a deep sense of patriotism in the hearts of citizens.
Focus on Women’s Health: Healthy Women, Strong Family Campaign
Dr. Yadav also took the opportunity to address the health and welfare of women in the state. He urged mothers and sisters to take part in the “Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar” (Healthy Women, Strong Family) campaign, which aims to provide early detection and care for health issues. Dr. Yadav emphasized that the state government is committed to ensuring the well-being of women, underscoring the importance of timely health check-ups in saving lives.
The Chief Minister also pointed to the government’s initiatives, such as the ‘PM Mitra Park,’ which supports cotton-producing farmers and strengthens rural economies. He stressed that the health and respect of mothers, daughters, and sisters are top priorities for the state government.
Swadeshi Abhiyan Exhibition: Promoting Indigenous Products
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav visited the exhibition of indigenous products at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Youth Cultural and Information Center in Jabalpur. The exhibition, organized under the Swadeshi Abhiyan, showcased products crafted by women from local self-help groups. These products, ranging from handwoven textiles to eco-friendly items, symbolize the state’s progress towards self-reliance.
Dr. Yadav toured the stalls and encouraged the women involved, praising their contributions to building a self-sustaining local economy. He also emphasized the importance of promoting Swadeshi products and expanding this movement so that more people can embrace locally made goods in their everyday lives. The Chief Minister’s visit to the exhibition highlighted the government’s commitment to empowering women through entrepreneurship and fostering self-reliance in local communities.
The commemoration of Raja Shankar Shah and Kunwar Raghunath Shah’s martyrdom anniversary, combined with Dr. Yadav’s emphasis on Swadeshi, self-reliance, and women’s health, serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by the heroes of India’s past and the ongoing efforts to create a self-sufficient, prosperous future. The Chief Minister’s vision of a strong, self-reliant Madhya Pradesh continues to guide the state toward economic growth and social welfare.
