CCIT) and Principal Director General of Income Tax (Pr. DGIT) across multiple regions of the country.

The reshuffle covers officers from the 1989, 1990 and 1991 batches of IRS (Income Tax) and includes both regular transfers and additional charge assignments.

Regional Pr. CCIT Appointments Across India

Several officers currently serving as Officers on Special Duty (OSD) have now been assigned full regional responsibilities.

Key regional postings include:

  • Sunil Bajpai (IRS-IT: 1990) → Pr. CCIT, Tamil Nadu & Puducherry

  • D Sudhakara Rao will additionally oversee Pr. CCIT, Bihar and Jharkhand

These temporary assignments are often given to ensure continuity in senior tax administration until permanent arrangements are made.

Strategic Significance of the Reshuffle

The transfer exercise comes at a time when the Income Tax Department is focusing on:

  • faceless assessment strengthening
  • tax administration modernisation
  • regional enforcement coordination
  • taxpayer services expansion

Senior postings at the Pr. CCIT and Pr. DGIT level directly influence tax administration strategy across large jurisdictions.

Key Departments Covered in the Reshuffle

The current order impacts senior leadership in:

  • NFAC / NaFAC
  • Exemptions
  • HRD
  • Training
  • Investigation and Criminal Intelligence
