Katni/Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav unveiled a slew of development initiatives worth ₹234 crore for the tribal region of Katni district, including the inauguration and foundation laying of several infrastructure and educational projects in Barwara.

During the event, CM Yadav emphasized that these projects align with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, under whose leadership development is reaching every corner of the state. He also announced that Kanakpuri (Katni) would soon be accorded the status of a new district, marking a significant administrative development in the region.

Major Announcements at a Glance:

  • Inauguration of two Sandeepani Schools with state-of-the-art facilities in Barwara
  • Approval of a medical college in Katni under the state’s new PPP model
  • Repair and development of irrigation and reservoir systems
  • Promotion of local businesses and appeal for citizens to support swadeshi (indigenous) products
  • Plans to boost mining and industrial investments, including recent ₹56,000 crore investment from the Mining Conclave

Strengthening Tribal and Rural Infrastructure

CM Yadav reiterated his government’s commitment to uplifting tribal communities. The projects launched include irrigation improvements, reservoir repairs, and the creation of employment opportunities through industrial growth in mineral-rich Katni. He noted that Katni holds reserves of coal, limestone, and critical minerals, and even gold discovery is expected in the region.

Sandeepani Schools Set New Benchmark

The Chief Minister inaugurated two modern Sandeepani Vidyalayas in Barwara, comparing their infrastructure to premium private institutions in metro cities. He remarked that even private schools are “stunned” by the quality of these government-built institutions, which are now among the best in India.

He encouraged students to take inspiration from the legendary friendship of Krishna and Sudama, which began in a Sandeepani Ashram.

Focus on Health, Women Empowerment, and Self-Reliance

Highlighting the ongoing Seva Pakhwada (Service Fortnight) launched to mark PM Modi’s 75th birthday, CM Yadav urged all women to participate in free health check-up camps organized across the state. He reminded citizens that free medicines, tests, and treatments will be provided during this time.

He also criticized excessive online shopping, encouraging citizens to buy locally-made products to support Indian traders and businesses during festivals like Navratri, Dussehra, and Diwali.

Empowering Women and Youth

In a bid to empower women and students:

  • The Ladli Behna Yojana will begin distributing ₹1,500/month after Diwali, increasing to ₹3,000/month in a phased manner.
  • Girls topping the board exams will be gifted scooters, and those scoring 75% or higher will receive free laptops.
