Chief Minister Mr. Nitish Kumar on Saturday visited Laukahi block in Bihar’s Madhubani district to participate in a significant public programme held at the campus of the local Plus Two High School. Arriving by helicopter, he was warmly received by local residents and Janata Dal (United) workers. The event was attended by several senior leaders including JDU Executive President and Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Samrat Chaudhary, Rajya Sabha MPs Mr. Sanjay Kumar Jha and Mr. Lalan Singh, Transport Minister Ms. Sheila Mandal, Bihar Government In-charge Minister Ms. Leshi Singh, and former minister Mr. Lakshmeshwar Rai.
Developmental Push and Homage to Late Hariprasad Shah
The Chief Minister commenced the programme by unveiling the statue of Late Mr. Hariprasad Shah, former Panchayati Raj Minister. Addressing the gathering, he reaffirmed the Bihar government’s commitment to public welfare and underscored that the newly launched projects would spur holistic development in the region.
Foundation Laid for Projects Worth Rs 426 Crore
Mr. Kumar laid the foundation stones for multiple development schemes amounting to a total of Rs 426 crore. These include:
- Revival of Kamla and Jeevchha Kamla rivers, along with construction of four weirs and water structures to improve irrigation and water conservation.
- A Rs 31.13 crore tourism project to develop Fulhar, the sacred site known as the first meeting place of Mata Sita and Lord Shri Ram.
- A Rs 178 crore railway overbridge project near Shahid Chowk in Jaynagar, expected to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity.
- An interstate bus terminal in Madhubani to be developed at a cost of Rs 14.53 crore, aiming to boost regional transport infrastructure.
Appeal for Public Cooperation
In his address, Mr. Kumar emphasized the importance of public cooperation in the implementation of development schemes. He appealed to citizens to work closely with the administration so that the benefits of government programmes reach the most marginalised sections of society.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the infrastructure upgrades will not only enhance connectivity and public amenities but also create employment opportunities, furthering the government’s agenda of inclusive and sustainable development in the Mithilanchal region.
