Raipur: Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai participated in the centenary celebrations of the Government Jagatu Mahara Bastar High School in Jagdalpur. Addressing the school community, the CM extended heartfelt congratulations and emphasized, “Education is the key to development; without education, life is incomplete.” He highlighted the historical importance of education in India, referencing renowned institutions like Nalanda and Takshashila that attracted scholars from across the world.
Bastar Schools: Pillars of Regional Education
The CM acknowledged the significance of Bastar High School and Narhar Dev School in Kanker as crucial educational hubs for the Bastar region. Established in 1926 amid limited resources, Bastar High School has nurtured countless talented students who have contributed remarkably across various fields. Many alumni attended the celebration, reflecting on the school’s long-standing legacy.

Major Announcements for School Development
On the occasion, CM Vishnu Deo Sai announced a renovation fund of INR 1.5 crore for Bastar High School and sanctioned the construction of a post-matric hostel building. He assured that all other essential requirements of the school would be prioritized for fulfillment.
Technological and Infrastructure Initiatives
During the event, two drone tokens were handed over to the school by Shailendra Singh Thakur, who also pledged to provide 50 drones to enhance technical education. Additionally, two smart classrooms were inaugurated in memory of the late Thakur Devendra Singh and Mrs. Sharda Thakur. A Parijat sapling was planted as part of the ‘One Tree in Mother’s Name’ initiative.
Ceremonial Highlights
The centenary celebration began with flag hoisting and lighting of lamps before an image of Goddess Saraswati, marking the official start of the event. The school also released a commemorative souvenir. CM Sai personally served food to students during a lunch program organized in memory of the father of Mr. Srinivas Rao Maddi, Chairman of Chhattisgarh Beverages Corporation.

Tributes to Fallen Alumni
Mr. Sai paid homage to seven alumni who sacrificed their lives while serving in the police and security forces by offering flowers at their photographs.

Education Minister Mr. Gajendra Yadav congratulated the school on this historic occasion, urging students to learn from their predecessors. Jagdalpur MLA Mr. Kiran Dev, a former student, highlighted the school’s legacy in producing IAS officers, doctors, engineers, professors, successful entrepreneurs, and other contributors to society.
