Narharpur: During his visit to Narharpur in Kanker district, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai unveiled a series of development projects aimed at uplifting tribal communities and strengthening infrastructure in the region. The occasion was the traditional tribal celebration Thakur Joharni, where Sai, along with former Jharkhand CM Arjun Munda, took part in local rituals and addressed the public.
Preserving Tribal Culture While Driving Progress
CM Sai began his address by paying homage to tribal deities and congratulating the people on Thakur Joharni and Nawakhai. He emphasized that tribal customs, values, and traditions must be preserved and celebrated, even as the state moves forward with its development agenda.
“Tribal unity and cultural pride are the soul of Chhattisgarh,” Sai said, urging the community to remain united and resilient.
Education and Employment at the Forefront
Recognizing the need for quality education in tribal areas, CM Sai highlighted the presence of national-level institutions such as IIT, IIM, and IIIT in Chhattisgarh. He also pointed to ongoing efforts through Eklavya Model Schools, Prayas Residential Schools, and Nalanda Campuses to make education more accessible to tribal youth.
A Tribal Youth Hostel in Delhi is currently serving students from remote areas, while additional resources are being directed to schools in the Bastar and Sarguja regions.
Deadline Set to End Maoist Influence
In a bold announcement, CM Sai reaffirmed the state government’s target to eliminate Maoist insurgency by March 31, 2026. He cited growing success in anti-Naxal operations and emphasized that education and development would be the long-term solution for peace.
Major Development Projects Announced
The Chief Minister made several key development announcements specific to Narharpur and surrounding tribal areas:
- Bagod Anicut Construction – ₹30 crore
- 132 kV Power Substation – ₹30 crore
- Mawa Modol Library – ₹20 lakh
- Gondwana Community Hall in Dhodharapahar – ₹20 lakh
- Mobile Tower installation in Narharpur
- Rest House in Narharpur – ₹80 lakh
- Tin Sheds in 12 Gondwana Muda regions – ₹1.2 crore total (₹10 lakh each)
- Assistance for Jangorayatar English Medium School in Dhanesra
These initiatives are expected to enhance connectivity, support education, and promote social infrastructure in tribal communities.
Digital Governance and Livelihood Programs
As part of broader efforts to modernize rural governance, CM Sai announced the rollout of Atal Digital Seva Kendras in Gram Panchayats. The centers will offer transparent, digital access to government services.
In partnership with the National Dairy Development Board, the state is also promoting animal husbandry and poultry farming as sustainable livelihood options for rural families.
