Lucknow – Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath marked India’s 79th Independence Day with a powerful address at the state-level celebrations held at the Vidhan Sabha in Lucknow. Highlighting the success of Operation Sindoor and the global impact of India’s indigenous defence technology, the CM also unveiled key achievements of the state and reiterated his commitment to building a secure, prosperous, and self-reliant Uttar Pradesh.
Salute to Operation Sindoor and Swadeshi Defence Technology
In his address, CM Adityanath lauded the Indian armed forces for their bravery during Operation Sindoor — a mission launched 100 days ago in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. He paid tribute to the soldiers who “secured the unity and integrity of India” under adverse conditions.
Highlighting the technological achievements of ‘Made in India’ defence systems, he said,
“BrahMos missiles and drones used in Operation Sindoor, manufactured right here in Lucknow, showcase the power of swadeshi technology on a global scale.”

A Tribute to Freedom Fighters and the Spirit of Independence
Adityanath remembered Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Sardar Patel, and other known and unknown martyrs who made India’s freedom possible. He emphasized that Independence Day is not just a celebration but a moment to “awaken national consciousness” and renew commitment to one’s duties.
He also hoisted the national flag at his official residence and encouraged citizens to adopt swadeshi as a way of life, calling it a “national resolution.”
UP’s Transformation: From Lawlessness to Model Governance
The CM drew a stark contrast between pre-2017 Uttar Pradesh and the present, stating:
“Before 2017, the state was plagued by lawlessness and riots. Today, UP stands as a symbol of good governance and security.”
Key state achievements highlighted:
- GSDP growth: From ₹13 lakh crore (2017) to ₹32 lakh crore (2025)
- Per capita income: From ₹43,000 to ₹1.2 lakh
- Investment: ₹45 lakh crore worth proposals received; ₹15 lakh crore implemented
- Jobs created: 8.3 lakh govt jobs, 1.62 crore youth employed in the MSME sector
One District One Product & Vocal for Local
CM Adityanath praised the success of the One District, One Product (ODOP) initiative, stating that it has connected local artisans and manufacturers to global markets through branding, modern packaging, and design. This, he said, aligns with Prime Minister Modi’s ‘Vocal for Local’ campaign.
Vision for Viksit Bharat 2047
The CM reiterated India’s rapid progress under PM Modi’s leadership:
“In 2014, India was the 11th largest economy. Today, it stands 4th globally.”
He committed to making UP a major contributor to the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047, emphasizing that if every citizen fulfills their duties, “India will become the greatest power in the world.”
