Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath attended the 54th Annual Conference of the Indian Society of Nephrology (ISNCON 2025) held at SGPGI, Lucknow late last night. During the event, he unveiled the digital souvenir of ISNCON 2025 and honored doctors for their remarkable contributions to nephrology and healthcare.
In his address, CM Yogi highlighted the urgent need to prevent Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) from becoming a widespread health issue. He emphasized that a regular and disciplined lifestyle can play a crucial role in controlling CKD.
Free Dialysis Centers and Healthcare Initiatives
CM Yogi informed that free dialysis centers have been established in every district of the state. He highlighted the government’s efforts to improve healthcare accessibility, stating that ₹1,300 crore has been allocated this year for treatment of underprivileged patients.
He further noted that Uttar Pradesh has seen a remarkable transformation in healthcare infrastructure. From only 17 medical colleges before 2017, the state now has 80 new medical colleges. District hospitals have also been upgraded with improved facilities, ensuring better medical services for the population.
Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak advised attendees that balanced and disciplined nutrition is key to maintaining health. He added humorously, “Liquids need to be monitored carefully—20-20 is okay, but Patiala won’t do,” eliciting laughter from doctors and delegates.

Robotic Kidney Transplants and Advanced Nephrology
SGPGI Director Prof. R.K. Dhiman highlighted the institute’s pioneering role in nephrology, noting the launch of robotic kidney transplant procedures, which have significantly increased transplant success rates.

During the ceremony, CM Yogi presented the Lifetime Achievement Award to Dr. Mohan Raja and awarded ISN Fellowships to 19 distinguished doctors.
Uttar Pradesh’s Healthcare Transformation
CM Yogi underscored Uttar Pradesh’s journey from a “sick state” to a revenue-surplus state, emphasizing the government’s efforts to improve medical infrastructure and services. He praised the state as the “soul of India,” highlighting its historical and cultural significance as the land of Lord Ram, Krishna, Mahatma Buddha, and the origins of the freedom struggle from Ballia through Mangal Pandey.
