Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday reaffirmed the Uttar Pradesh government’s commitment to transforming the state’s dairy sector through enhanced farmer incomes, rural empowerment, and improved quality standards.
At a key event marking the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing between the Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Dairy Federation (PCDF) and the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), the chief minister emphasized that this strategic collaboration will revitalize dairy operations across the state.
The agreement covers the operation of three major dairy plants in Kanpur, Gorakhpur, and Kannauj, as well as a new animal feed production unit in Ambedkar Nagar.
Dairy as a Driver of Rural Prosperity
“The Uttar Pradesh Government is working with full dedication to make the state’s dairy sector self-reliant, technologically equipped, and profitable for farmers,” CM Yogi said.
By handing over the management of PCDF plants to NDDB, the government aims to bring in technical expertise, greater transparency, and direct benefits for dairy farmers, especially smallholders and women.
He noted that dairy development has become a key pillar of women empowerment in rural areas.
From Neglect to Reform
Criticizing previous administrations for sidelining the dairy and animal husbandry sectors, the chief minister pointed out that lack of vision and policy failure had led to a decline in livestock wealth and stagnation in rural incomes.
“In contrast, since 2014, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, revolutionary reforms in agriculture and allied sectors have attracted youth and created new employment opportunities,” Adityanath added.
Vision for a Self-Sustaining Dairy Ecosystem
Adityanath called on PCDF to adopt NDDB’s best practices, stating that the collaboration marks a new beginning for a progressive and efficient dairy ecosystem in Uttar Pradesh.
