The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has approved a one-month tenure extension for Mr. Biju George as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd (MDL). The decision was communicated through an official order dated March 26, 2025.

Tenure Extension Details
- Effective from: April 1, 2025
- Duration: One month or until a regular appointee takes charge, whichever is earlier
Mr. Biju George, who currently serves as Director (Shipbuilding) with additional charge of Director (Finance) and CMD, has held the position since March 1, 2025.
- Academic Qualifications: Postgraduate degree in Ocean Engineering and Naval Architecture from IIT Kharagpur.
- Experience: Three decades with MDL, including two decades in the design of frontline warships such as Missile Destroyers and Frigates.
Key Roles:
- Project Superintendent of the P17A Frigate Program for the Indian Navy.
- Head of Shipbuilding Design Department at MDL before his appointment as Director (Shipbuilding).
Mr. Biju George’s extension ensures continuity in leadership at MDL, a key player in India’s defence shipbuilding sector.
