Ranchi: Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Director General Gyanendra Pratap Singh visited Jharkhand on Wednesday, meeting with DGP Tadasha Mishra at the CRPF CTC (T&IT) Campus in Ranchi to strengthen operational coordination against Left Wing Extremism (LWE).
Focus on Strengthening Anti-Naxal Operations
During his visit to the Group Centre of CRPF Ranchi, DG Singh addressed a Sainik Sammelan, emphasizing fitness, discipline, and duty among personnel. He also chaired a high-level operational meeting at the Jharkhand Sector headquarters of CRPF to review ongoing anti-Naxal operations.
The discussions centered on intensifying efforts to eliminate armed Maoists by March 2026, supporting families of martyred personnel, boosting morale among CoBRA commandos and Jharkhand Police, and coordinating strategies across sensitive regions.

CRPF Deployment and Strategic Coordination
CRPF currently deploys around 20 battalions in Jharkhand, leading nationwide anti-Maoist operations. Singh’s visits focus on reviewing progress against Maoist networks, ensuring rapid infrastructure development in forward camps, and encouraging surrenders through rehabilitation initiatives.
Earlier notable actions include the September 15, 2025 encounter in Hazaribag, where CoBRA commandos neutralized three top Maoist leaders, including central committee member Sahdev Soren, who had a ₹1 crore bounty on his head. Following this, Singh visited injured personnel, commended the 209th CoBRA battalion, and reinforced coordination with Jharkhand Police to target remaining leadership.
Commitment to Troop Welfare and Safety
DG Singh highlighted welfare measures for personnel affected by IED incidents and other operational hazards, underlining the CRPF’s commitment to protecting and supporting its force. Recent blasts in West Singhbhum, which injured personnel, underscore the necessity of ongoing coordinated operations.
Under Singh’s leadership, CRPF has strengthened synergy with Jharkhand Police, establishing hundreds of new forward camps in LWE-affected districts. These initiatives have significantly reduced Maoist influence, contributing to peace and stability in erstwhile conflict zones.
Nationwide Anti-Maoist Drive
The central government has set a target to eliminate Maoism in India by March 31, 2026, with CRPF playing a pivotal role across Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and other states. Singh, a 1991-batch IPS officer, continues to engage actively with ground troops to oversee operations, motivate personnel, and ensure mission success.
