Varanasi – In a major push towards sustainable infrastructure and educational advancement, NHPC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Varanasi Development Authority (VDA) for the redevelopment of the Government District Library in Varanasi. The initiative, taken up under NHPC’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), will transform the existing structure into a cutting-edge Net Zero Library.
A Leap Towards Eco-Friendly Knowledge Spaces
The MoU was formally exchanged between Mr. Uttam Lal, Director (Personnel), NHPC, and Mr. Pulkit Garg, IAS, Vice Chairman of VDA, on July 23, 2025. The event marked the beginning of a transformative project that will involve demolishing the current library at the LT College Campus and constructing a modern, sustainable facility in its place.
This new library will be designed with interactive digital tools, smart energy systems, and water conservation features. It aims to promote eco-consciousness while boosting conceptual and technical learning among students and youth in the region.
