The Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) has appointed Deepak Kumar Barik as Executive Director (Law) on the company’s Board, effective May 15, 2025.
About Deepak Kumar Barik
Barik brings with him over three decades of experience in legal affairs across prominent public sector undertakings and financial institutions. Prior to this appointment, he was heading the Legal Division at GAIL (India) Ltd. His career also includes leadership roles as Head of the Legal Department at the National Housing Bank and Deputy General Manager (Law) at REC Ltd.
He began his legal career in the banking sector, with earlier stints at State Bank of Hyderabad and Canara Bank.
Barik holds a Master’s degree in Law from Utkal University and is known for his expertise in regulatory compliance, contract law, and dispute resolution in the infrastructure and energy sectors.
His appointment is expected to strengthen IREDA’s legal oversight as the agency continues to scale up financing in India’s fast-growing renewable energy sector.
