Visakhapatnam: Defence Secretary of India, Mr Rajesh Kumar Singh,a 1989-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the Kerala cadre, undertook a two-day official visit to the Eastern Naval Command (ENC) at Visakhapatnam from May 16 to 17, 2025, as part of the Ministry of Defence’s ongoing efforts to strengthen India’s maritime security and strategic posture on the eastern seaboard.
During his visit, the Defence Secretary held discussions with Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command. He was briefed in detail on the operational capabilities, strategic responsibilities, and major activities of the Command.

The visit included an extensive review of ongoing and planned infrastructure development projects on the East Coast, which are designed to significantly bolster the Indian Navy’s operational readiness and strategic reach in the Bay of Bengal and beyond.
These initiatives are part of the Indian Navy’s broader vision to develop world-class facilities and enhance maritime domain awareness in the Indo-Pacific region.
The Defence Secretary’s visit underlines the government’s focus on modernizing defence infrastructure, enhancing maritime capability, and maintaining a robust naval presence in the eastern maritime theatre.
