Indian Army Awards Contract to L&T and BAE Systems for BvS10 Sindhu All-Terrain Armoured Vehicles

New Delhi: Infrastructure and defence giant Larsen & Toubro Ltd (L&T), in collaboration with BAE Systems, has secured a significant contract from the Indian Army for the supply of the advanced BvS10 Sindhu, a specialised all-terrain armoured vehicle. The contract was announced through a regulatory filing submitted by L&T to the BSE.

Indigenous Production at Hazira with BAE Systems Support

As per the contract terms, L&T will manufacture the BvS10 Sindhu indigenously at its Armoured Systems Complex in Hazira. The production will be carried out with technical and design support from BAE Systems Hägglunds, the original manufacturer of the BvS10 platform. In addition to vehicle supply, the agreement includes a comprehensive integrated logistics support package, covering initial deployment, maintenance, and life-cycle sustainment to ensure long-term operational readiness for the Indian Army.

The BvS10 Sindhu represents an upgraded variant of the proven BvS10 all-terrain vehicle, engineered for diverse and challenging environments. Its versatility and robust design make it a critical asset for the Indian Army’s mobility and operational capabilities across varied geographies.

This contract highlights the strengthening defence partnership between Indian industry and global technology leaders, reflecting L&T’s capabilities in producing sophisticated armoured vehicles in India. The collaboration ensures that the Indian Army receives state-of-the-art technology integrated with local manufacturing, boosting self-reliance in defence production.
