₹1,600 Crore Rural Push in Just 365 Days
Highlighting the government’s performance, the Chief Minister said that in just one year, ₹1,600 crore worth of development works have been launched in rural Delhi.
She criticized previous governments for allegedly neglecting village areas, leading to broken roads, poor drainage systems, inadequate schools, hospitals, and colleges. According to her, rural Delhi is now being brought into the mainstream of development with focused investment in basic infrastructure.
The government has also allocated ₹1,000 crore specifically for village development, ensuring planned and accelerated growth.
Focus on Roads, Sewerage, Schools and Growth Centre
CM Rekha Gupta said the government is prioritizing:
- Construction of village roads
- Development of large drainage systems
- Border area development
- Establishment of new schools, hospitals and dispensaries
Additionally, peripheral roads and drainage projects worth ₹500–600 crore are being undertaken across rural Delhi.
She also mentioned that a new master plan will benefit farmers, resolve land consolidation (chakbandi) issues, and support the development of a proposed growth centre on 900 bigha of land.

Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra said that in previous administrations, even small development projects struggled to get approval, and the Village Development Board remained largely inactive.
He added that under CM Rekha Gupta’s leadership, ₹1,000 crore has been approved for rural Delhi in the first year itself. He also credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India) as guiding the capital’s development trajectory.
Mishra further highlighted welfare measures such as free LPG cylinders for women during Holi and noted that infrastructure development is now visible across all parts of Delhi.
A Step Toward Urban-Level Facilities in Villages
CM Rekha Gupta concluded that the Mundka projects are a significant step toward ensuring that rural Delhi receives infrastructure comparable to urban areas. She described the initiative as part of a broader commitment to inclusive development, improved civic amenities, and better living standards for all citizens.
